In 07-14-25 this year, while my dentist was filling tooth 31, she said 32 had a cavity that just didn't show up on the X-ray. She proceeded and filled it.
Afterwards, she said I'll probably need it pulled because it's cracked. Paid 219.00 for the filling. Now, here we are, Sept 8, at the dentist, because the tooth has been hurting for a while now. I need it pulled; the dentist wouldn't pull it unless I paid for the bone graft.
I told him I've been going to this dentist for years; never before was I made to get the bone graft. I had multiple teeth pulled. He told me to go somewhere else; he wouldn't do it unless I did. I had to pay 455.00.
I had no choice; I was in pain. Two months earlier, I paid 219.00 to have it filled and was told the same day it's cracked and I need to get it pulled. This is crazy; I even brought up why should I have to pay so much when something like this happens. Number one, this is a wisdom tooth; I told him I'm not getting any implants.
Still, he refused unless I paid for the graft. I'm so upset with Western Dental; I just can't believe I was treated like this. I always talked so highly of this company, always telling people to go get their teeth fixed there. I just can't believe almost 700 dollars and no tooth.
I have good health insurance; my health insurance won't pay for the graft because it wasn't necessary.
It should have only cost me 50.00 with my insurance. Thank you, Ramona Traugott.

They had me buy a treatment plan, and also billed me for extra treatments. They did not send the paperwork in correctly to the dental company.
They would not listen to what I found out from the dental insurance, and I had to file a claim. Now they are trying to have me pay for $1100 bill, for treatment not done.

Verified Reviewer |Very bad service
The quality service of western dental has completely changed poor customer service from the start from the receptionist to the dentist I went for a scheduled appointment no one that works there was friendly at all the dentist was the worst I was asking him questions about my teeth he was acting as if he didn't want to answer it seem like his only focus was to unnecessarily extract teeth that could be saved and immediately offered implants and a payment plan the teeth he claim were wobbly I have no issues with and are not wobbly like he says I was not comfortable at all the whole time and pick up very bad energy from him I saw all those bad reviews about western dental after my visit and will not be returning for my scheduled appointment they should be investigated and close down.

I went in with a toothache and no dental insurance. They charged me $169, they said for x-rays. I told them they only needed to x-ray one tooth - the tooth that was hurting. They did 2 x-rays. The dentist didn't speak to me. The tech told me I needed an extraction because there was a cavity under my crown. I asked if there was any way of saving it and she said no, it would be too expensive and would require surgery. Before leaving, I paid the $169 and never got any paperwork for the billing. At the desk, the rude lady set an appointment for the extraction and then told me it would be $834. She urged me to pay now so I did. I signed a form not knowing what I signed. I assumed it was for the credit card charge. I was in immense pain and didn't have the capacity to read the paper they had me sign.
I returned for the extraction and was given many pages to initial. The dentist was waiting to start so the tech was hurrying me to initial them. I wasn't given time to read everything and nothing was explained to me. I initialed the pages and noticed the last page mentioned a bone graft. I was never told anything about a bone graft. So I questioned it to the tech and asked where the bone came from. She didn't explain anything but that the bone comes from a bone donor. I wasn't given any time to say I didn't want a bone graft. The dentist was waiting. I was charged $834 for an extraction and bone graft that I would have declined if given the chance.
I asked the front desk if I could be refunded for the x-ray charge of $169 because I only got 2 x-rays and not a full mouth x-ray. She said I got all my x-rays and wasn't owed anything. I asked her for a line item printout of my charges. She snottily said 'I'll print the forms you signed and that's it.' Because I was numb and couldn't talk effectively, I left instead of arguing further about the charge.
It's been 2 weeks now and I'm still in bad pain. And my jaw where they extracted the tooth has sunk down below the jaw line.
After looking at the charges, I find that the extraction cost $258 but the bone graft cost $576! And the $169 I was charged wasn't for x-rays as I was told. It was for some type of plan. I called them to complain of their deceptive billing and, why I wasn't told I needed a bone graft and the risks associated with it. She said I was told about it. And I signed the paper so I consented to it. I told her I signed a paper for my credit card payment. She said no, it was the estimate. I was in pain when I signed and I didn't read anything, I put it in my purse, not looking at it until after the extraction. She said I signed the estimate so I consented to the procedure and was told about the graft. I said I would have never consented to a graft because my other extracted molars didn't have grafts. So, when I need dentures, I will need bone grafts for the other teeth. Why would I pay now for one tooth? I didn't get anywhere with her because she kept saying I signed the paper. So I hung up because I was very agitated with her.
Now I get a text message that I missed an appointment. So I called and was told I had an active campaign, whatever that is, and I needed to call another number in 15 minutes. I called the number given and was told they sent out those missed appointment texts so we would call them back to set an appointment. WTF? She said I needed to go back for the dentist to check my tooth. I made an appointment for June 11th and, after asking if there was an additional charge for this appointment, I was told no charge. We'll see if that's true.
They extracted my tooth on 5/29 and today is 6/7. I'm still in bad pain. This has been the worst experience I've had in my 57 years.

Verified ReviewerBing, charge additional.Money
My problem is I financed my son's braces. They told me everything was included that they had to do was included in the financing.
I paid off the financing now. I received a bill for additional 799 because of they were unexpectedly.
Was not aware of the situation. That was in my son's mouth. That is not my fault.
I should not be build for something that was included in his braces. I'm to the point I am upset that I received a bill after I paid off the finance charges. Now I feel you guys are in breach of contract. Charging me additional for something that was financed and was included.
So I will be appreciated to be contacted soon as possible and prompt.
Or I will have a lawyer. Contact you for breach of contract.
User's recommendation: If you like Bing build extra for something that was supposed to be part of the finance cost. But bad business i dont recommend

I was supposed to get a refund from you guys and instead, you sent it to Care Credit to pay off the account. That refund should have come to me.
I have been paying off the balance to Care Credit. That wasn't your money to send to them; it was my refund.

Verified ReviewerIn grinding my tooth for a crown the dentist nicked my tongue several times as well as the inside of my cheek.I need to get the finished crown put on but am very dubious.
Poor dental work. The dentist at Western Dental in Santa Cruz kept nicking my tongue while she was grinding my tooth for a crown.
The inside of my cheek is also hurting from a cut.
I need to get the finished crown placed and am afraid to even go back. A friend mentioned he also had problems when he had a teeth cleaning there and they busted his lip.
I never see other patients and no one ever answers the phone except a remote answering service that has no access to any personal information such as insurance.
Unfortunately it appears that Medi-Cal only works with Western Dental.
User's recommendation: Beware of this place.
The paid for treatment but did not receive it and they didn’t charge my insurance company.
The office I went to closed and my records were supposed to be transferred but that never happened and I did not get what I paid for.
